ATHENA and EXPER projects hosted a joint workshop on gender equality and diversity at the Canary Islands
The ATHENA partner, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), with the participation of our coordinator – Consulta Europa, hosted last week a dynamic workshop on advancing diversity and gender equality.
The event which brought together over 25 participants was organised under two EU-funded projects, ATHENA and EXPER, where both joined efforts to foster gender equality and inclusion.
Participants engaged in a series of interactive discussions where it featured ULPGC’s Gender Equality Plan, developed under ATHENA, and its integration into the broader Diversity Strategy of the EXPER project
A key segment of theses discussed included the ULPGC’s Protocol Against Harassment and Violence Toward LGTBI Individuals, a significant initiative for building respect and safety for all identities on campus. The round table discussion, involving voices from academia, student bodies, and the private sector, provided perspectives on strengthening institutional policies to foster inclusivity both at ULPGC and in the wider community.
This workshop underscored ULPGC’s and Consulta Europa’s, through ATHENA and EXPER projects, commitment to making impactful changes through gender equality plans and diversity initiatives, setting the groundwork for a more inclusive academic and social environment.
