1st Meeting of the Gender Equality Plan Implementation Committee of the University of Bucharest
The first meeting of the Gender Equality Plan Implementation (GEPI) Committee of the University of Bucharest (UB), in the framework of the ATHENA project, took place online on Wednesday, 8 September 2021.
The committee is composed of representatives of academic and administrative management, teaching staff, researchers and students of the UB. The list of members of the GEPI Committee of the UB can be accessed here.
During the event, the team carried out a preliminary analysis of the available institutional data and information on the project, the results of which are included in a comparative report that includes the contribution of all eight partner institutions in the Consortium. This benchmarking exercise aims to establish benchmarks on the current status of various gender equality issues in the academic environment of the project partner institutions. Thus, issues related to the quantitative and qualitative data needs that have been and are to be collected were discussed so that the strategies and activities to be included in the future gender equality plan are useful, feasible and adapted to the realities of the institution.
Moreover, a compendium of good practices at the European level on gender equality plans already implemented in other countries is currently being developed to support plans with information on different measures and strategies already successfully implemented by other academic institutions.
The Committee meeting set the agenda and modalities for future work. Thus, the Committee has a major role in the project, both in consulting and monitoring the activities and as a guarantor of the final form of the strategy for the implementation of the gender equality plan in the UB.
