Collegial dialogues among women academics at the University of Bucharest
The University of Bucharest (UB) initiated an informal group for discussions among women academics colleagues from various faculties in UB. The objective is to gather opinions, experiences, and suggestions from UB employees concerning the Gender Equality Plan under development.
Up to now, two online meetings have taken place: the first at the end of January, with around 30 participants, and the second on Friday, 25 February, with 11 participants. The Vice-rector responsible for research and president of the Commission of Ethics in UB joined the group and offered ideas.
In the online meetings, it was discussed concrete types of resistances to gender equality in UB and how to overcome them; ideas for obtaining political implication from the University; institutional measures to combat gender discrimination; main directions for a communication and dissemination plan; and initiatives for interdepartmental collaboration networks on the subject of gender equality; the need to better know the professional research interests among members of the group to identify areas of possible collaboration in the near future.
The collegial dialogues will continue monthly.
